Living the dream.

I am very passioned about music and how it helps unite people together. I love to listen to different types of music from various genres and from different periods of time to understand the struggles people felt during that era. My first language was Spanish and I am very into my Hispanic culture. My favorite subject is History and English/Literature. I like to challenge myself academically and I like to push myself over my limits through my studies.

Heroes/Role models

My heroes/role models are Cesar Chavez and James Brown. Cesar Chavez fought for rights for migrant workers working in the fields in the U.S. and was a huge advocate for social justice. James Brown, musically, brought color barriers through his music, helped create a new era of music, and united people through his music. I hope to emulate them by fighting for what I believe in and uniting people.

Favorite book

The Circuit by Francisco Jimenez is my favorite book because it talks about the struggles of Mexican migrant worker trying to pursue the American Dream. The character that I connected the most is Panchito because he reminds me of my father who worked in factories and sold newspaper in the border between Mexico and the U.S. to support his siblings and his mom.

We are proud of our scholars and we make sure we follow their stories and help them achieve a pathway to college and beyond.
