Together we can make an impact!
Consider investing in the students of Bay Scholars. They have the potential to be our leaders but need your help to make that a reality.
This year Bay Scholars has an unprecedented opportunity to elevate our impact like never before. We are excited to share that John A. Sobrato has generously committed to a $2.5 million challenge grant, supporting Bay Scholars’ growth. This extraordinary grant is designed to match contributions from all new donors, as well as current donors who increase their annual gifts. This not only offers a unique opportunity to amplify your impact but also serves as a powerful testament to the significance and value of our work. We hope you seize the opportunity to increase your support of Bay Scholars.
The Janet & Clint Reilly Family Foundation continues to underwrite all operational costs so every dime raised for Bay Scholars goes directly to scholarships!

2022 Year End Planning: Tax benefits from Charitable Gifts
Your financial support of Bay Scholars may actually save you money in taxes, especially this year. Here are some time-sensitive giving opportunities that you may want to consider in your year-end plans that will support not only our Bay Scholars students and families, but also may save you money depending on your tax situation.
IRA Required Minimum Distributions are Back.
After being waived for 2020, required minimum withdrawals (or RMDs) from your IRA are again in force for 2022 for individuals age 72 and older. If you wish to support Bay Scholars with this RMD income, you can donate it as a qualified charitable distribution. This way, your IRA will not generate taxable income for 2022.
Timing Your Gifts.
If you mail a check, it must be dated and postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before December 31, 2022, to qualify for a tax deduction this year. If you use an on-line gift, it is considered to be made on the date of the payment.
